Allow us to introduce Nimble. Design Intern, Sarah Wiggins. An Auburn Senior, pending graduation this winter with her BFA in Graphic Design, Sarah is sharpening her design skills as a studio right-hand this summer. Take a few minutes to get to know her in the Q&A below.

👋 Hi Sarah!

Fill us in—

What’s the one thing the Nimble. community should know about you?

SJW: I crave human interaction. Working with people is the way I stay alive! So as you can imagine, working in studio with the Nimble. team is my happy place and where I’m able to do my best work.

First monumental memory you have of design?

SJW: I actually began as a Communications major at Auburn but quickly learned that I was drawn to a more hands-on, creative process and changed my major within a matter of days. It was in my Freshman year foundations class that I had my ah-ha moment. My professor was explaining process fundamentals and why design is such a powerful problem solving tool. Connecting the value of iteration to tested solutions had me hooked.

Where do you see yourself post graduation?

SJW: I graduate this December (!) and ideally I would love to be back in Atlanta (I’m an ATL native) in a design studio setting. I’m a big relationship person, so working in an intimate setting where I can get to know everyone and make a real impact will be key. I’d also like to think that I’ll have a dog, master laundry and flex more After Effects knowledge in 2022.

Best piece of advice you’ve received?

SJW: It was while I was in school. The professor who introduced me to the value of design as a problem solver introduced me to the importance of iteration. He said something along the lines of “don’t be afraid to do something over again.” It sounds simple, but it’s something that has stuck with me and helps me throughout the creative process.

What methods of personal organization have you picked up from school and/or freelance?

SJW: I’m definitely a list girl. It’s color coordinated and my highlighter collection is impressive. If I don’t write it down, I don’t remember it. Teamwork is a dream for me. And there’s great satisfaction that comes with checking items off my list.

Who do you look up to?

SJW: I was born in ATL and raised by a family of entrepreneurs. I’ve been influenced by the women in my family specifically — my sisters started a business together doing recruiting and their model is thriving. My mom has also worked for the same company since the 70s and her career has always been a big part of life. I admire and look up to them daily!

Biggest passion outside of design?

SJW: I am a major dog lover — to the point that I once threw my dog a 21st (3rd) birthday party and there were even themed beverages.

Hands down absolute favorite topic of conversation?

SJW: Mexican food — queso specifically. Taco Mamma is my favorite restaurant in Auburn. I’m going to miss it when I leave.
