In the News: Nimble. Featured by the City of Marietta

Nimble. Founder and Head of Studio, Candice Riley Campbell (CRC) recently had the pleasure of chatting with Rachel Langelotti (RL), Economic Development Project Manager with the City of Marietta, about our first year working off the Square.

The conversation gave us a chance to reflect on the seasons that brought us to this historic neighborhood and all the reasons it feels like home.

Read on in this extended interview.

RL: Describe your business and the services you provide.

CRC: Nimble. is a multi-disciplinary design studio dedicated to Branding for the Built Environment®. We pride ourselves on sustaining long-term partnerships with brand-minded companies and place-centric teams (notably, real estate and hospitality) to build and bridge brands built to serve. Our services include: research and discovery, brand development, graphic design, web design, interiors consulting, signage design and wayfinding consulting, and integrated project management.

A ‘right fit’ collaborator for us is one who understands the impact that physical place has in fostering connection and ‘reason to return’. We love partnering with local restaurants, breweries, entrepreneurs, and organizations who have a passion for connecting people and place.

RL: What were some considerations that led to locating your business within the City of Marietta?

CRC: We fell in love with the charm of our 1908 residence-turned-creative office. The mashup of being located off the Square with its welcomed walkability, surrounded by the optimistic spirit of small business, and still being very accessible to I-75 and in-town conveniences is kismet. We are proud to be a downtown neighbor and have a brilliant community to call our own.

RL: Describe the vision and inspiration behind the design of your office.

CRC: As a studio specializing in branded environments, the blank canvas to showcase our passion for connecting brand to place was a big reason we took the leap to invest in Marietta. The previous owners did a fantastic job rezoning this historic gem from residential to commercial. Our role was to thoughtfully to make it our own. We developed an identity (Buro off the Square) and brand personality especially for our building that informed our lens for finish selections, furnishings, and final details. Every contribution was considered, from hand-selecting female artists and makers for our commissioned and purchased pieces and wallcoverings, to our intentional collaboration with Rustic Trades to handcraft our branded desks and tables, to the traveling signage and artwork that have come along with us from workplace to workplace over the years.

RL: Can you highlight any unique or custom design element?

CRC: Our very first investment was a mural commission in collaboration with talent, Christina Kwan. We started with a single wall in our foyer and expanded our shared vision to touch all three floors, from foyer to third-floor dormer window. Christina’s flowing style and attention to detail is unmatched, and she was an amazing collaborator as we navigated this idea of ‘chasing light’ with paint.

RL: How has the investment and improvements you have made to your downtown property contributed to the overall success and/or growth of your business?

CRC: It’s such a gift to have such a charmed, historic host space to gather in. Designing this workplace home-away-from-home has presented us with the unique opportunity to combine storytelling and brand activation ‘out loud.’

It’s incredibly special to share a living piece of our brand with clients, friends, and team members who have had such an influence on our growth over the past decade.

RL: What unique qualities does the Marietta Square offer you, your business and/or clients?

CRC: In short, access and community. Our team can commonly be found on foot in commute to Tuesday Coffee or Sessions Stand and in pursuit of new foods and places on and around the Square. We love the ability to simply walk outside and explore, clear our minds, and refuel.

We look forward to continued growth at Buro off the Square as we welcome new and returning clients into our space and discover even more local partners and collaborators.
